Executive Summary
The service department of UGA Transit provides services for the buses of
the transit system. It recently worked with the Supersonic Five Team to
examine
its inventory control procedure. Inventory information inaccuracy was the
problem where a large amount of human error was involved. Even with
frequent checking, which was costly, errors were inevitable.
The service department had to make some urgent orders from time to time,
which added to its operational cost. The solution was the implementation
of a logbook in the stockroom. Records are made by the mechanics on the
logbook each time a part is used. The administrator would then use the
information from the logbook when ordering parts for the inventory.
